Library of Michigan

The Library of Michigan is a state-run institution designed to house and preserve artifacts and a library collection of the State.  The interior space is maintained at 50 percent relative humidity year-round.  During the cold winter months, the exterior walls experienced condensation and ice-accumulation problems which threatened the integrity of the stone pieces and their connections. RRJ was engaged by the general contractor with the concurrence of the State. RRJ found that the installed air barrier was incomplete due to details which were essentially unbuildable.  RRJ developed and monitored several repair options.

  • Investigate condensation
  • Perform inspection openings
  • Design trial repairs
