Building enclosure consulting for a new cutting-edge hospital

Javon Bea Hospital is a 188-bed regional hospital offering highly specialized hospital and clinical care for adult and pediatric patients. The hospital consists of three wings totaling 588,250 square feet and features two bed towers, a Level III perinatal center, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, a Level I emergency/trauma center, cutting-edge operating suites, and a physician medical center.

Mercyhealth retained RRJ to provide enclosure consulting and field-testing services. The exterior wall cladding systems include glass and aluminum curtain wall system integrating metal panels, as well as interfacing with back ventilated metal panels, natural stone masonry, exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS), windows, and storefront.

Scope of Services

  • Review architectural drawings and specifications
  • Perform thermal modeling and hygrothermal analyses
  • Review shop drawings and submittals
  • Assist in developing curtain wall mockup testing requirements
  • Review Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Facilitate exterior wall preconstruction workshops
  • Perform on-site quality assurance visits
  • Perform field quality control testing
  • Provide project close-out documentation
