MIA Mover

The MIA Mover the public transit system at Miami International Airport. Its elevated guideway is supported on AASHTO prestressed concrete beams. When cracks began developing at the ends of beams in the casting yard, RRJ was retained by the contractor to evaluate and make recommendations.

RRJ’s documentation revealed consistent behavior and little in-service movement of the cracks. RRJ provided recommendations for coating the cracked areas to enhance the long-term durability of the beams.

How RRJ helped

  • Perform full-scale load tests
  • Analyze structural durability of beams
  • Conduct in-service monitoring with active vehicle traffic
