Tripoli International Airport | Terminal Constructability Review

The proposed new terminal in Tripoli was designed with a light, undulating structural steel roof that evoked the forms of nearby sand dunes. RRJ was asked to conduct a series of structural evaluations and design reviews as the project began and moved into construction. RRJ assisted with the project as it moved into construction until the entire project was halted at 40% completion due to the country’s unrest.

How RRJ helped

  • Conduct structural review and recommendations for roof structure
  • Evaluate exterior glass curtain wall
  • Conduct value engineering roof cladding and bracing system
  • Design stability bracing
  • Interface with roof structure and roofing
  • Evaluate secondary framing
  • Revise main roof structures
  • Review and improve erection plan and sequences for safety
  • Conduct full-scale laboratory testing of as-built materials
