U.S. Embassy Historic Chancery Building

This federal-style Chancery building of the Embassy was completed in 1940 to house the United States High Commission to the Philippines.  It is listed on the United States Secretary of State’s Register of Culturally Significant Places for its important diplomatic overseas architectural significance to our country’s international heritage.

An international general contractor was awarded a $100 million expansion and renovation construction contract of this historic building by the United States Federal government.  The general contractor discovered errors and omissions in the project design documents, generating excessive quantities for Requests for Information (RFI) prior to beginning construction and anticipated substantial cost overruns and time delays throughout the project.

RRJ was retained by the international general contractor to consult on the adequacy of the design.  Construction Claims Consultant, The Kenrich Group, an HKA company, performed an analysis of the additional costs of the project due to the inadequate design documents.  As a result of the claim, the contractor was released from the construction contract.
