Jack Russell Memorial Library

This newly constructed two-story, 35,000 square foot library provides an independent building for the City of Hartford’s central library.  The building’s envelope design incorporates steep-slope standing seam metal roofing, low-slope single-ply membrane roofing, exposed glulam beams, stone masonry, cement board siding, wood siding, and aluminum-framed windows.  Two months after occupancy, liquid water and water staining were observed on the roof deck throughout the second level of the building.  Many of the library’s stacks were located on this level. RRJ was retained by the architect’s attorney to conduct an evaluation of the roof construction as it related to the alleged moisture issues in the roofing system.

Scope of Services

  • Evaluate roof construction
