Fountain Square Plaza Investigation

Originally constructed in 1871, Fountain Square was enlarged a century later and partially constructed over an underground parking garage. An extensive renovation in 2006 repaired garage deterioration and added a second water feature. Reports of water leaks through the plaza and below began even before the renovation was complete. RRJ investigated the leakage problems and designed repairs which were implemented in 2012 with construction administration by RRJ.

Scope of Services

  • Investigate leakage in plaza
  • Review drawings and photographs from renovation
  • Interview people knowledgeable with the renovation work
  • Review water leakage surveys
  • Physically expose as-constructed conditions above specific leak areas
  • Perform tracer dye testing to confirm leakage paths
  • Develop drawings and specifications for repair
  • Provide construction administration services during repair
