Advocate Aurora Health, Condell Medical Center West Tower

The West Tower was a major expansion to the Advocate Condell Medical Center. The six-story, 178,000 square-foot, steel-framed building is designed with modular curtain wall units installed between precast concrete wall panels. Before construction was complete, condensation was observed on interior aluminum curtain wall framing members and water was observed dripping out of frame joints.

After RRJ’s findings and repair recommendations were presented jointly to the building owner, project architect, and the construction team, the architect and general contractor implemented repairs to avoid delaying the opening of the new facility.
